Concerned About Your Hearing? Get a Hearing Test with Moor Hearing

When You Should Have Your Hearing Tested | Moor Hearing | Hearing Tests

Have you noticed that you’re asking people to repeat themselves more often? Or maybe

you’re turning up the television louder than you used to, or struggling to follow conversations in busy environments. If any of this sounds familiar, you’re certainly not alone.

According to the Royal National Institute for the Deaf (RNID), an estimated 1.2 million people in the UK have hearing loss greater than 65 dBHL. Hearing loss is a condition that can impact virtually every aspect of your everyday life, from your relationships and work to your overall wellbeing. The good news? Help is readily available, and the first step is simpler than you might think.

The Importance of a Professional Hearing Assessment

The only way to truly know whether you’re experiencing hearing loss is through a professional hearing test. At Moor Hearing, we offer free hearing consultations, either at our modern clinic in Plymouth or in the comfort of your own home. Our comprehensive approach ensures we understand not just your hearing levels, but your lifestyle and personal needs.

What to Expect During Your Hearing Test

Your hearing assessment with Moor Hearing begins with a friendly conversation. We’ll ask about where and when you’re struggling to hear, and equally importantly, where you can hear well. Understanding what’s important to you helps us identify the best solution for your individual needs.

If you visit our clinic, we’ll examine your outer ear and ear drum using our Video Otoscope, you can even see the images for yourself. We then conduct your hearing test to BSA standards using the Aurical system within our soundproof booth. Should we find any issues such as a wax blockage, we’ll discuss ear wax removal or other appropriate options with you.

For those who prefer a home assessment, we use the KuduWave system, the gold standard in at-home hearing testing. This uses a combination of ear inserts and noise-cancelling headphones to deliver the highest accuracy, even in the presence of background noise.

Understanding Your Hearing Test Results

Following your assessment, we’ll explain your results in detail, helping you understand how they relate to the difficulties you’ve been experiencing. We’ll discuss how your hearing compares to normal hearing, with results typically falling between acceptable, mild, moderate, or severe/profound categories.

Finding the Right Hearing Aid Solution for You

As independent hearing specialists, we’re not tied to any particular manufacturer. This means we can focus entirely on finding what’s right for you. We want to help you find a hearing aid that meets your needs and that you’ll be happy to wear. That’s why we offer a 60-day trial period. If, for whatever reason, you want to change your hearing aids, we’re happy to do so.

Take the First Step Today

If you’re unsure whether you need a professional hearing test, why not try our online Hearing Screener? This three-minute check can give you an indication of whether your hearing is within normal range or if something more significant may be present.
