Before Your Appointment

The Appointment Itself
We start by asking a few questions about your symptoms. Blocked ears, muffled hearing, earache, ringing or a feeling of pressure are all common reasons people come to us.
Next we look inside your ear with a microscope or a video otoscope. Many people like seeing the picture on screen, and it makes it much clearer what we are dealing with.
Then comes the microsuction itself. We use a fine suction tube to lift the wax out gently while we watch what we are doing under magnification. No water is flushed into your ear. You will hear a whirring sound, a bit like a small vacuum, which can feel loud at first but is not painful. Most people find it far more comfortable than they expected.
Afterwards
Once your ears are clear, we check them again and let you know what we found. Most appointments take around twenty minutes, and there is no recovery time. You can drive home and carry on with your day.
